Chapter 5: Daddy knows best

Chapter 5: Daddy knows best

Some days from now, Jamie and her father will be leaving Hamburg for England by road so for the rest of the week what Jamie did is study magic, watch TV(and turn the TV off when she sees Johannes on viva or MTV because she still doesnt get over with him), hang out with Raimund, chat with friends and other things. Then her last day in Hamburg came, Percy took a month leave starting today and that day, all he did was to rest and pack all the things in their silver BMW 525-which is the car Percy used to go to work. Thank goodness for Percy, he already put a Undetectable Extension Charm on the trunk of the car and put some bags there before Raimund came in to hang out with Jamie one last time.

"So, when you're in London already, can you please bring me a big ben thing?" Raimund asked while he and Jamie are sitting on the lawn in the front yard that balmy morning. "uhh sure, i would..." Jamie nodded, "...but in exchange for that, you should keep in touch with me everytime i ring your phone." she winked. They talked heartily and laughed a bit, then Jamie's father called
"Jamie, where is your luggage? we're gonna put them on the trunk now." Percy called from the open garage near the lawn they are sitting. "Oh, im gonna get them from my room!!!" she responded then stood up to get inside. "Can i help carrying?" Raimund asked, "sure, it's a large one you know, i can't bring it down alone." Jamie consented.
Her dad firmly told her to bring all her clothes and beloved stuffs in her bag with an Undetectable Extension Charm.

"But we're gonna be gone for a month, why would i bring all of my clothes and stuffs as if we're moving out?" Jamie complained to her dad some days ago. Her father simply just said "You might need to, you know". Then Jamie obeyed. she put an Undetectable Extension Charm, grabbed her clothes, shoes, makeups, accessories, psp, ipod video, muggle books and her muggle photo album. "you might want to put your magic stuffs too, in case you're wondering." her father added, so she also grabbed her potions set, Firebolt 2.0(a newer and more efficient model of the old Firebolt we're familiar with), crystal ball and sneakoscope the night before.

So Jamie and Raimund raced up the stairs and opened a wooden door with a rose stained glass window that leads to Jamie's room. They went inside and found a big, fuschia luggage bag with a Disneyland Paris keychain dangling on the zipper and an airport sticker that says "CX 318 HKG to HAM" that sticks in the handle. "i think this is the luggage that you used when you first left Kowloon some years ago..." Raimund said, noting the airport sticker on Jamie's luggage. "...the last time i left Kowloon, which was last year, remember?" Jamie said. "Oh yeah. i remember you went back to Kowloon last year with your dad and it was for a week." Raimund recalled. "Exactly." Jamie agreed, "Now, let's get this thing down to the garage." she added with a smile. Then Jamie and Raimund carried the fuchsia luggage down to the garage, which was a bit hard. it would be easier if she just levitated the luggage down, but Raimund is here-she thought. they gave the luggage to Jamie's dad and then he loaded it in the charmed trunk, in which Raimund never noticed they were putting a lot of bags in the trunk.

Later that afternoon, Jamie finally bidded Raimund good bye and got inside the car, beside the drivers seat. "Bye Jamie and have a nice trip!!" Raimund said and he was still waving at them until the Wongs' car got out of sight in Rizalstrasse and off the road. Some 30 minutes later, they got out of Hamburg and into the German Autobahn. Jamie is now beginning to see the beautiful countryside and her dad turned the stereo on and they just listened to the music. a few songs from Pussycat Dolls, Lafee and My Chemical Romance later, a song from Die Argyles; "Nach Dir Kommt Nicht" began to play. Jamie was quick to turn the stereo to its next song which is a song from Killerpilze. Die Argyles used to be Jamie's favorite band, something might be wrong- Percy thought. "Hun, is there something wrong?"he asked. Jamie was always open to her father, which is a kinda normal thing for German teens-being open to their parents. "Yes there is..." Jamie miserably said. "What? wrong song? found out that Johannes hooked up with someone hotter than you?" he asked. "The latter is right..." Jamie sadly nodded, "...You won't believe who's the lucky gf dad."she said.

"then who's the lucky girl?" her dad curiously asked."Who else but that evil muggle girl who bent on destroying my life, Aslana." Jamie grimly said. Percy was kinda shocked that he almost lost control on he wheels. "Aslana? that Turkish looking girl who's being really mean to you ever since?! sheesh, she's being such nag- hell worse than Voldemort. in these situations you might want to hex her with a horrid spell but in any case you shouldn't try magic on a muggle. so, just forget Johannes darling. he's on Aslana's side now and Aslana might be slandering you on him and naturally, he'll believe her" her dad exclaimed. Then there was this moment of silence between them when the killerpilze song ended and then a song by brokencyde began to play. Then Percy heard Jamie crying, "Dad , why...sob... do i have to fall for guys who are ...sob... so impossible for me to be with? why do all the boys who i happen to love want girls who different from me...whimper... let's say Aslana." Jamie cried and sobbed more.

For Percy, Jamie's situation is a bit similar to his problem when he was a carefree teenager like her but like all parents, he wouldn't bear hearing his growing "apple of the eye" cry and had her feelings hurt by someone she idolizes but no one can avoid this situation, so he just smiled a bit and said softly "You know Jamie, liking someone is natural but knowing that he doesn't like you is inevitable. We might never know someone's feelings, you know". Percy explained

"oh yeah, i wish i was great at legilimens but hell no, even if i'll be great at that, he'll never hold me the way he held Aslana tight." Jamie miserably said, she stopped her crying already. "uh huh. Amortentia could help you win Johannes over but that might throw you off to Nurmengard-the new German wizard prison." Percy laughed "It would be better to completly forget about him and move on with life..." Jamie grimly said. "It will be better dear. remember, at least Johannes made you a stronger person and it might help you a lot in life, like what happened to me when i was your age." Percy smiled, "like what happened dad?" she interestingly asked, " Let's just say, a guy hotter than me got someone who i really liked. but she didnt liked me at all and she even despised me for being nerdish. i felt he same way as you are until i met your mum." he shared, Jamie looked at him with interest and he went on. "just remember there still are plenty of guys out there who are cooler than Johannes and they'll love you more than he'll do, so don't worry about the small fry." Percy said, "You know dad, you're the greatest ever..." Jamie said with a grateful grin to her father.

A short silence followed, then a German song by Tokio Hotel, "Der Letze Tag" began to play on the stereo. Jamie sniggered unexpectedly and cussed out a random Cantonese swear word(making Percy look at her badly) when the androgynous vocalist Bill Kaulitz's voice began to sing. Percy began to laugh too, "what's so funny??" he asked. They laughed then "Oh, i remember that guy who sang this song. i saw him one day in Gold Marie with Raimund and he looks a bit cute but he's too girly." Jamie explained while laughing loudly with her dad, "Oh i see, he's too girly for you, am i right?" Percy sniggered. "Yeah, you're right about that dad." Jamie smiled. Then they drived along on the magical, twilighted German expressway with the eagerness of stopping over charming cities on their enchanting journey to England.
