Chapter 4: Thank God It's summer....

Two weeks had passed since that deceitful event Jamie had. From that day on, she just focused on studying hard for their final exams every afternoons with Raimund. Then a week later they took their exams. Every subjects went smoothly except for Physics, in which it was a bit vague to predict whether they will pass or not. Now, the results will come out and it's thrilling to see whether you passed or not. Jamie and Raimund was on their first period for the day and Sir Listing gave the class their scored test papers in all of their exams in a folder.
"Okay, now take a look at your test papers!! im so happy a lot got a high score in my subject." Sir Listing smiled. Jamie opened her folder and then a big smile replaced her 2 week old frown. She scanned all of her test paper and realized she passed all of her tests with extraordinary grades, even in physics!!

She glanced at Raimund who is sitting beside her. He too got a large grin in his face, which is usual every time they see their test results. Raimund looked at Jamie with a wide, pointless smile ad then back to his test results. then Jamie looked at her other friends in the room like Inah;a black girl who had a very sassy style, Henri; a blond, wavy haired, freckly French expat who is one of Raimund's close friends than Jamie and also Dean; a huge 16 year old who looks like a large adult ape and they all look satistfied with their exams.

Then Sir Listing made them return their folders to him and announced that the end of the school year is today. The whole class cheered and applauded as if Sir Listing threw an extravangant performance with his old band. He just smiled and laughed a bit, remembering his long gone "band days". Jamie's melancholy seems to fade away and Raimund was happy about it since he worked hard for 2 weeks to prevent Jamie from thinking about Johannes and move on. Then the bell rang and Sir Listing gave them all his final good bye to his advisory class. "Auf Wiedersehen und Vielen Danke to my favorite class and see you again next year. Don't worry, i'll still stay here at Hamburg Central as your next year's geometry teacher but i won't be your adviser anymore. Im gonna miss our daily morning gags and fun but maybe we'll have that next year as well. So good luck and have a fantabulous summer ahead!!!" he waved.

For the whole day, they seemed to be in high spirits even their teachers like miss Franz bidding them all good bye and have a great summer and also passing by the smirking Aslana and her friends occationally in the corridors. Raimund and Jamie both talked about their plans this summer. "My gosh, Jamie you're so lucky you're going to London two weeks from now. how long will you be gone?" Raimund asked as they got out of school and this time Raimund will be staying in Jamie's house until around 11 PM because his parents went somewhere and he will be picked up there.
"I have no idea how long will i be gone to England..." Jamie shrugged. "...Dad's always in England and travelled from here to there using all means of transportation from jet planes to buses. i really have no idea how long will it take for us to reach England." she added. She never mentioned to Raimund that her father also traveled there by using apparation, magic carpets, broomsticks, floo network or portkeys because Raimund is a muggle.

Then they arrived at the subdivision where the Wongs' house is. Jamie's right hand is at her right pocket and clutching her wand. she whispered "alohomora" as they walked to the door so Raimund won't hear. Then Jamie opened the door, Raimund always wonder how on earth does the Wongs keep their house burglar free at the same time leaving their doors unlocked. Jamie just explained that they have a clever "anti burglar" device from Japan which make a deafening noise and warning police whenever a someone who is not known to the Wongs comes inside the house. Unknown to Raimund, Mr.Wong locks the door when he's going to work and Jamie would do magic to open the door, like she did before they arrive at the very doorstep of the house. "I really love your burglar device. i wonder if it cost much, i'll ask my mom to buy ourselves one if it's not expensive." Raimund laughed. "It's expensive. Costs almost 2 months of my dad's monthly income so he just pay it off by a 2 year installment." Jamie giggled as they went inside with Raimund being surprised with the cost of the state-of-the-art burglar device that his best friend doesnt really had at home.

They sat down at the black bauhaus chairs in the living room and began to talk again. "So, i bet i'll be just talking to you through my laptop or cellphone when you're gone huh?"Raimund asked, "You bet i will. Every night me and dad will stop over at a hotel or resto-wherever there is wifi..."Jamie assured."...And i will always give you a regular update on how the trip goes. i affirm that you will always be in the know other than Inah and the others are concerned." she said as they both watched a music video of Ich+Ich in Viva and ate popcorns they popped in the microwave, then Percy arrived from work an hour later. "Hey Mr. Wong" Raimund greeted. Before Raimund got to know Jamie's last name a long time ago, he used to call Jamie's dad as "Mr. Jamie's dad", which found Jamie a bit weard. "Oh, hey dad. i see you arrived early from work" Jamie said. "Yeah, i went home early to fix our important documents for the trip." her dad explained.

"Oh, i see. So, should i begin to pack?"she asked. "If you want to," he consented. "Okay, then let's begin..." she smiled as she turned her head to Raimund, who is excited to help as well. Then they made a mad dash to Jamie's room while they left the TV open but Percy just occupied the empty seat Raimund sat before he went and watched TV and ate the rest of their popcorn. Then Jamie and Raimund began to choose the things Jamie had to bring to her road trip. "Where will you be spending the summer Raims?" Jamie asked Raimund as he picked some of Jamie's perfumes and placed them in her toilettries bag. "huh? oh yeah, i'll be spending the summer at home or maybe me and my family will be going to Baden or Rügen for a week in july..." he grinned. "Oh, well that's cool. That means you'll be spending a part of your summer soaked in the hotsprings full of saggy old people?" she joked, Raimund just frowned "At least you're going to England...", "Just kidding about that sorry. anyway feel lucky at least you won't be stuck in the car for the whole day like i'll do. just stay away from the saggy old dudes and you'll have fun as much i'll have when i arrive in London; Kicking the arses of those stationary Buckingham palace guards..." Jamie said. Then Raimund felt better and they both had fun packing and at some point chatting with Henri or Dean in YIM about their plans in summer.

For the rest of the week what Jamie did in the first week of summer was sleep all day, watch TV, surf the internet, hang out with Raimund, walk around the streets of Hamburg and study magic more often than she does on regular school days. Her dad will leave her magic books to read and answer exercise questions in the books, do hands on lessons herself on how to make an Invigoration Draught, grow a honking daffodil in the small greenhouse in their backyard or repel a red cap living under a cabinet of their basement. All these lessons she just manage to do by using her dad's time turner. Ever since she started studying magic, her dad allows Jamie to borrow his old time turner just as long as she had to use it strictly for studying magic only, so she will not be missing out all the teenage muggle fun or get caught by a visiting muggle friend in her house studying magic. So a whole 8 hour worth of studying magic is shortened into a mere 2 hours every morning plus lessons that needed her father like flying broomsticks, apparating, some hands-on transfiguration and such during the night, in which she doesnt need the help of the time turner, since a lesson form her dad is usually an hour and half.

"Finally, im crammed with things this summer..." Jamie told herself as she answer an excercise in her Charms book while she was sitting on the kitchen table, with her charms book on her lap. She wonder what will happen in her upcoming roadtrip to England which will be a week away.
